Kid Approved Guide to Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day – the time to celebrate all the awesome moms out there! Looking for some great ways to say “thank you” and pamper the moms in your life? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!

Mother’s Day in Surrey, Delta & White Rock

Brunch

This crowd pleasing staple of Mother’s Day is a classic way to get mom out of the kitchen. And there are endless options for beautiful locations with amazing food. Morgan Creek Golf Course and Northview Golf and Country Club offer lavish buffets in a stunning setting. Pat Quinn’s overlooking the Tsawwassen Springs Golf Course has a similarly decadent spread. Or for a seated service option with an ocean view, try Giraffe Restaurant overlooking White Rock Beach.

Tea

While brunch might be the most traditional Mother’s Day celebration, try a high tea for a change of pace. The charming Fry’s Beestro at the Honeybee Centre offers high tea service, as does quaint Clancy’s Tea Cosy in White Rock. Or partake in Tea at the Farm at the Historic Stewart Farmhouse, combining tea, a heritage tour and crafting in one event. For the birder, don’t miss Tea with the Birds at Cammidge House on Boundary Bay. Learn about the many migrating species of birds on a guided tour followed by refreshments.

Picnic

A more casual option for the outdoorsy family is a pick-up picnic at a local beach or park. Stop by Newmans Fine Foods or Ossie’s Deli in Tsawwassen before heading out to catch some rays at Centennial Beach. Or swing by The Carvery Sandwich Shop in South Surrey and hit Crescent Beach or Blackie Spit. The kids can roam free while the mamas enjoy some beach blanket time.

Stroll

It’s the perfect time of year for a family walk with gardens bursting into bloom and parks and paths greening up by Mother’s Day. Meander through The Glades Garden, accompanied by a string quartet through the forest of rhododendrons. Wander down the White Rock Pier and Promenade with ice cream in hand, or head over to the George C. Reifel Bird Sanctuary on Westham Island. The ducklings and goslings will be emerging from their nests for an afternoon full of adorableness.

However you celebrate this special day for the moms in your life, slow down and enjoy a day of togetherness and time.

Mother’s Day family fun is #KidApprovedBC!
