There is one more weekend ’till Halloween! Time to cram in some more spooky fun. Don’t have a pumpkin yet? We can point you in the right direction. Looking for some fun activities? We got you covered. Thanks to our guest bloggers A Dad’s Adventures and Mary in Vancity we have reviews of two great family destinations: the Hazelmere Pumpkin Patch and Potter’s L’il Haunters. And this weekend will be full of sunshine and blue skies – perfect for being out together!
Pumpkin Patches
Halloween and harvest time make for some great family memories.
A Dad’s Adventures gives Hazelmere Pumpkin Patch double thumbs up for being less commercialized than other patches in the lower mainland. There’s so much to do, from petting the goats, to playing with the Tonka trucks, to climbing on the vintage tractors. And that’s even before a wagon ride out to pick the perfect pumpkin.
And the face painting is a can’t-miss experience as well. Lookin’ good Batman!
And how cute is this little one in the corn maze?

And other #KidApprovedBC pumpkin patches? Some great options in Surrey are Rondriso Farms and Port Kells Nurseries.
In Delta, we love the Westham Island Herb Farm. Take a wheelbarrow out to the fields and fill with pumpkins before visiting the animals and haunted barn.
Or stop by Backroads Family Farm Market for a huge variety of heirloom pumpkins and meet “Doug” the giant-est pumpkin around.
Halloween Attractions
Mary in Vancity hit the L’il Haunters by Potter’s House of Horrors with her four year old son. It is a decidedly less scary, more toddler friendly experience than many traditional haunted houses. Explore the two haunted houses – Mystic Village and Spooky Castle.
It is the perfect place for the littles to get in the spirit of Halloween without being terrified, featuring a wide range of not too spooky inflatables, with some favs like the Minions! Read all about it here.
And don’t miss the Burns Bog Escape Halloween Ball. Try the Bog Escape until October 29, with family friendly hours from 5-7.
Halloween Events
Dress up for Halloween in the Forest at the Surrey Nature Centre, October 28. Try the scavenger hunt, learn about favourite fall creatures like bats, owls and spiders, and meet the Forest Fairy.
